FLORIDA FREE FIRE SIGNS
We are a couple of entrepreneurs and long-term residents from Central Florida. SEE eDesigns LLC started FREEfiresigns.com because we want to help keep Florida Firefighters safe. We also wanted to help the Florida business community and commercial property owners who are affected by the signage regulations which took effect Dec 13, 2009 by providing FREE light truss designator signs. The signage requirements which took effect since the passing of the Bill by the Florida Senate are designed to protect and save firefighter’s lives by identifying buildings which are constructed with lightweight roof, floor, and roof and floor trusses. The Bill is named in honor of two Orange County Firefighters, Todd Aldridge and Mark Benge, who died in 1989 after the roof of a gift shop collapsed; the Bill, called the Aldridge-Benge Firefighter Safety Act will require owners of any commercial, industrial, or any multi-unit residential structure, to mark these buildings in a manner that identifies them as light-frame truss-type construction. The approved signs and symbols are designed to alert firefighters of the construction material and allow them to modify their strategy and tactics for fighting fires in buildings with light truss roofs and/or floors. More on the Bill is available in our “About the Law” section. Fire Department and similar State agencies: Please email us if you'd like sample signs. To our firefighters, who risk it all to keep us safe!
